Counselling
Confidentiality is one of the most important ethical principles of psychotherapy. Everything said in therapy will be kept between you and me.
I will reveal information about our discussions only if:
-
you grant me permission to give specific information to a specific person, or
-
I believe that you or another person is at risk of being harmed.
All notes and records will be maintained in a secure, offline file. Notes and records will never be stored in any manner that can be accessed through the internet.
If we happen to encounter each other in public, I will not acknowledge you. You should not take this as a sign of rudeness but as a means of protecting you from possible discomfort. If you feel comfortable and wish to say hello, I will always be happy to respond and have a brief chat. This decision is entirely yours.
